MS Basic Optical Mouse

Am I the only one having problems with this product? We have two here
at work, and neither works reliably. That's a bit sad, because I like
everything about it, other than the "non-working" part.

For one thing, the mouse cursor periodically starts drifting to the
upper left of the screen. This typically happens after a delay where
it's been left sitting for some time. All of a sudden it starts moving
the pointer all on its own.

Worse, the pointer periodically "snaps" to the upper left in one quick
movement. This happens when you are moving the mouse about. It seems
to happen in bursts, making it almost unusable until it stops again.

And finally, the scroll wheel is absolutely terrible. On one side of
its travel it's firm and clicks sharply from position to position,
while on the other side its mushy and slides between stops. When it's
on that side, the windows randomly snap up and down as if the wheel is
being moved, but it's not.

Yes, all of these problems are on both mice. There's similar reports
all over google. How did this pass QA?
