Hi,

I have a HP nc8000 laptop which has a built-in slot for SD Card (running Win
XP SP2). When I pop a card into the slot, I can see the PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI in
the list of hardware, but it does NOT get a drive letter assigned!

If I reboot the laptop, with the card inserted, it shows the drive letter
(typically L:)!!

What is interfering with the assignment of the drive letter? What could be
happening? Any expert opinions?

HELP!

Thanks
SB

I notice that if I plug an XD card or a USB pen drive in then click on 'My
Computer' it cannot be seen. If I close 'my computer' and try again it
then becomes visible.
Not sure why. Is that your symptom?
