Since I can't edit default Smartlist objects in Smartlist Builder, I want to
take an existing GP Smartlist and make a copy in Smartlist Builder so that I
can edit THAT.

Is there any way to accomplish this?

As far as I know there is no way to copy an existing SmartList for use in
SmartList Builder.

Well, that's certainly sad news... If we have to create a new one manually
then, is there a way to at least find out what tables the original Smartlist
was reading from?

Thanks for your answer so far!!

The only way I know of (if it's not obvious from the content) is to run a
SQL trace to see what tables/views the SmartList hits when you run it. If
you have a particular one in mind, post it, maybe people reading will be
able to help you.

Thanks Victoria!

It's actually the Employees Smartlist which is created after US Payroll is
installed. But what you've given me so far has been a great help!

On the release 9.0 Disc 2, in the Tools>Dex>Doc>PDF folder, there's a file
called IG.pdf, which is the Dexterity Integration Guide. Starting on page 272
there's a list of all the standard SmartList objects with the tables and
joins used. I came across it one day while snooping through the documentation
files on the CDs - it was like finding buried treasure!!
