Hi All
I am trying to install GP on my Machine:
1. Before the installation begins, a Component Installation window has
everything marked off with a green check mark except the "Microsoft Dexterity
Shared Components 10.0". When I click the Install button, it tries to
install the "Microsoft Dexterity Shared Components 10.0" but it fails.
2. After it fails, Error message pops up stating, "Initialization failed.
Review the log file for more details:
C:\DOCUME~1\Ramzy\LOCALS~1\Temp\log8.tmp".It says is "ERROR: One or more
components failed to install correctly."
3. After looking on the internet, I found that I have to uninstall the
FrameWrok2.0 and then restart your machine and restart the installation again.
4. When I tried to uninstall the FrameWork2.0, I have this error:
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 cannot
be uninstalled because it will affect other applications
that are installed. For more information, see
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91126
5. When I looked at this link in the previous point I didn’t found any help.

Please advise me what to do.

Thank you,
Ramzy

Ramzey,

Microsoft has a transforms file you can use to install Dynamics GP 10.0 when
.Net 1.0 & 3.0 SP1 is installed.

Or you can uninstall .Net 3.0 SP1, then uninstall .net 2.0 SP1. Once both
are uninstalled, Dynamics GP 10.0 will install normally. You can then
reapply the SP's.

Ramzy,

Is there an error you get? Did you uninstall .Net 2.0 and .Net 3.0?

Ramzy,

This problem is well documented - see curstomersource knowledgebase article

solution.

Hi. I'm having the same issue, but since this post is pretty dated, and wasn't really resolved the first time, I decided to repost.

When I try to install GP 10.0 one component won't install: Dexterity Shared Components 10.0.

I'm afraid to uninstall anything until I receive advice from someone who is clear about which components are currently installed, as follows:

Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 SP2
KB958481
KB974417

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP2
KB958483

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Hotfix (KB953595)
Hotfix (KB963707)
Hotfix (KB958484)

I am having a similar problem installing MS Dynamics 10 on Win Server 2003, and, having searched high and low, unfortunately was not able to find the article.

Do you have the link?

This issue was fixed with SP2. Microsoft made a new DVD image available. I
would recommend you toss the RTM CDs if you still have them. You can download
a new image with SP 4 on PartnerSource. The .msp file is just a patch, you
need the new image for a smooth installation.

You can download the file from PartnerSource following this link:

https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/downloads/releases/md10_releasedownload.htm?printpage=false&r=12&l=5

Kind regards,

Leslie

Try this:

Uninstall .NET 2.0 and 3.5 and re-run the GP installation again.

Uninstalling the versions of .NET as described above worked perfectly for me.
