I am new to Great Plains. Is there a way to find out who created
Journal Entries. I see the LASTUSER field in the GL20000. I'm not
sure what this field actually represents and when it gets updated.

Any resources that anybody could reccomend would be greatly
appreciated.

This won't help you for the past - but here's an idea for the future.

All journal entries have source document of GJ. WE established source
document codes as GJ-XX where XX would be each accountants initials. They
are instructed to change the source document each time they make an entry.

This is not an ideal solution - but at least it is something

Woiuld be interested in hearing how others do this.

Are you talking about JEs made in GL or JEs resulting from transactions in
other areas? Within GL I think you need to look at both the LASTUSER field
and the USWHPSTD (user who posted). Not sure of the specifics for when
LASTUSER is updated, but for us if the same person entered and posted then
their id is in USWHPSTD and nothing is in LASTUSER. Otherwise there are
different values in those fields.

Of course for things that didn't originate in GL you'll have to look back to
the source ref and get the info from the original transaction. Most of the
other modules have a field like USER2ENT that shows who entered the
transaction.

To know for sure you'll need to have audit tracking turned on, or get the
new Audit Trails module.

The lastuser field shows who is the user who last updated the entry. I
recommend that you use crystal reports and work on the gl20000 table and you
can get the desired report.

Hi Willwonka,

One product you might take a look at is Auditor from Rockton Software. It
will allow you to choose what and how you want to Audit
changes/additions/deletions to Dynamics GP fields. At
http://www.rocktonsoftware.com/products/auditor.asp you can see an online
demonstration of the Rockton Software Auditor.
