Anyone know what happened to Links 2003? I can't find a newsgroup for it and doesn't appear Microsoft is supporting it either??

There never has been a newsgroup for it. What's your problem with the
application?

Actually it's working just fine... but I was checking for updates just on
general principles and the links from the program dont work anymore, so I
thought I'd just check into it...

It's been discontinued. I think there was a Links 2004 for XBox, but nothing
for the PC. :-(

If I remember correctly, Microsoft sold Links 2003 to Take2 Interactive
over a year ago. It has since gone into R&D hibernation. There has
been no public knowledge on the Links franchise future.

It was a sad day when, not so much the news that it was sold was
announced, but more that there was nothing in the way of what it's
future was going to be.
I have been a fan since it was first release as Leaderboard on the
Commodore 64 some 20 years ago.

I for one hope Links gets a revival someday.

Links is still alive it was sold to Take 2 / Indiebuilt this year.
There has not been any news that a new version is being developed.
Links 2003 can now be purchased on line from
http://linkscountryclub.com/linksccpc/ really cheap ( about $6 us I think)
Word has it that a large amount of the older (no longer available ) courses
will also be sold from this site soon (Date yet to be set) for those who
wish to add more Original Links courses to there play list
If you need support you can go to
http://www.lstour.com/forum/display_forum_topics.asp?ForumID=3 and peruse
the forums or ask questions.
There has been a fix for Links 2003, Version is now 1.05 this can be
downloaded from
http://linkscountryclub.com/LinksCCPC/Links2003_update_page.htm

There is also a Mod 1.06 but I have not played with it so I can not tell you
much about
Cheers

I have just moved to Win XP from Win 98 SE on which I had my Links 98
running quite satisfactorily.

Can I install Links 98 on my New Win XP and how please. Links 98 was a
great bit of software.
Brett.

Cari. Many thanks for your encouragement. I tried to install which seemed
to be Ok but the swing control was all wrong and did not function properly
as evidenced by the resulting flight of the ball. I will retry an install
and try to itemise the faults/symptoms.

Cari,
Thanks again and further to my initial response. I tried to install LS 98
and all was going fine, then towards the end of the 1st disc install, a
warning window came up "Not enough space on the Hard Drive to complete the
installation of the golfer animations." My HD has about 100gb of defragged
clean space !! All programmes were shut down especially Anti Virus and the
like.

Not sure what next with XP home!?

Regards, Brett.

The error is caused by having too many files in your windows\temp folder. This folder has both a size and a file number limit and
once exceeded you'll get the low space warning. To fix that you'll need to restart the system to insure that no files are in use in
the temp folder then navigate to it and delete everything you possibly can from it.

If you still can't get the installation to proceed from the CD after that try this:

Copy the entire CD set to the HDD
Open windows explorer and navigate to the copied files
Right click the installation file (setup.exe) and select properties
open the compatibility tab
select windows 98 as the environment
Launch the installation from your copy on the HDD

Can anyone help me out with Links 2003.

I had a computer crash a week ago and lost everything. I tried to put Links
2003 back in but the computer says that the disk has been scratched and is
unusable. Fortunately I saved all my courses on backup disks, and thought I
had done the same with the 2 games disks, but I cant find them anywhere.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the game, as I am lost without it.
