>>Christ is coming?<< You're goofy. Ok you say you're going to heaven. Tell
me
this, just what is heaven and where is heaven? Do you think the sky is
heaven? Where is and what is hell? >>> How do you think man became?
Something just happened one day and boom, we were all here<<< Answer your
own
question >>>Do you not believe that God created man in his
own image?<<<< NO i don't, but let me ask you this, Do you think this so
called god just appeared out of thin air, poof here he is. lol.
.>>Once when God made man, he did not like what he saw. So he asked
> Noah to build an Ark and take pairs of each animal on board because he
would
> flood the Earth to kill all living creatures so that man could start over
> again.<<<< Geographical and atmospheric changes happened and you and many
other lost fools
want to believe it was a god that did it...Again, very funny.
HotDogs, it is I that posses sympathy for fools like you and many others
that live their life being depressed and feeling left out, not to mention
having human faults that disgust them, that reach out for forgiveness and
guidance from a statue and/or entity to forgive them for conducting
themselves like fools and morons ( sinfulness as you so freely call it).
You have the audacity to tell me i'm a sinner and a ridiculous fool for not
believing in something that is NOT there. Take a look in the mirror and then
come back and tell me you're not the fool because you worship and believe in
folk lore and fairy tales.
You haven't the strength to live your life on your own, you are so weak
that you need to believe in foolish fairy tales, and want to believe in
someone/something is watching your every move in order to live your life in
a decent manner. FOOLISH LITTLE CHILD.
When you grow up, you too may live your life in a decent manner without
scaring yourself to death over some so called god that you think will damn
you to hell for not believing in IT. I myself need no fairy god tail, in
order to live a decent, caring and respectable life. It is my wishes that
people like yourself could conduct your lives in a decent manner WITHOUT
having fear of a god as your only reason to be a good person.
You want to thank someone for your very existence on earth? Thank your mom
and dad, and leave the kiddies stories like GOD to those that cannot live
from day to day without believing someone is watching them and judging them
like their in school or something.
Question-- Do you really believe, if a person does not believe as you do
then they MUST be sinners? You most definitely need help from someone other
than a fantasy, to get your world together.
HotDogs, if you are like most all foolish believers, then i'm sure you have
no idea when, how and why this GOD stuff was implemented into the human life
style. Most all you fools are unwilling to search out the true fact of how
it all started. >> clue for you>>>> Control - Fear - Manipulation... Go
ahead HotDogs, search for the true reason why simple man invented this
invisible deity(GOD) and why. But be prepared if you do, because the answer
may just destroy your world that have surrounded yourself with to protect
you from yourself.

Good luck in your quest.

This post takes me back to my teen years.

Some friends and I would sit around, higher than a kite in a hurricane,
talking religion. Someone would say,

"What if you have to work hard in heaven, and hell is just a place where you
sit around and do nothing."

Now, that's a pretty profound statement, coming from a 13-year old, wouldn't
you say? It got me thinking a lot about religion. Whose word are we to
take that heaven is a place where we live in the lap of luxury? What,
exactly, is it to be "saved" (and from what)?

Think about it this way. If you were given your choice:

You single guys and gals out there -- If Hell were a place where you could
go, have unlimited sex with willing partners (even animals for you, Mouse),
drink beer and never be hungover, sleep till whenever you wanted to and wake
up and do it all over again, would you want to go there IF Heaven were a
place where you worked, didn't have sex (you're not married... No nookie for
you), didn't drink beer, woke up at the crack of dawn (ref: early to bed,
early to rise prose) and fluttered around, which would you choose?

You married guys and gals out there -- If Hell were a place you could go
back to a time in your life with your spouse and spend that time when you
had sex like rabbits, didn't want for anything, didn't have to work for
anything and felt like a young "million bucks", would you go there IF Heaven
were the place where you worked, had sex only for the purposes of
reproduction (which is completely ludicrous since reproduction is a cellular
action), couldn't say bad words and couldn't drink beer, which would you
choose?

Some people look at Heaven as a place where you are free. Hell is thought
of as a place where you're tortured on a daily basis. Well guess what?
Some people here on Earth like to be tortured, so wouldn't your vision of
Hell be their vision of Heaven? Does the view of morality in a society
outweigh the view of morality by an individual?

We all know by now that I am not in church every sunday.
But I do know this. There is a god and a jesus.
If you lived my life you would know it to.
I admitt I live outside the rules of Christian life
as I have lived outside the rules of most things
my entire life, but I do look over my shoulder.
I could list all the times something really bad
should have happened to me from the corp
all the way through partying through college.
But sumtin always saved me.
Now I enjoy a family of 5 and complete freedom
and I scratch my head as to why do I deserve this?
Maybe god wants me here to make pps pay for
being such a weenie........maybe sumtin else.
All I know is that you may not believe in him, but
I think ya do and that you made this post cuz
somewhere in the back of your mind your scared
and your hoping hotdogs can help ya. I feel by the
tense of your post you feel cheated in life and are saying
how can there be a god? But now i'm rambling but Believe you
me there is a god. Hopefully one day I'll learn to live by his rules
even though I truly doubt it, but I'm the one who will pay huh.
Oh and just for shit sakes just go outside and look up at the stars
and try to figure out this How can space never end? When did
it all begin? Science can figure it out...........Can you?

You'd make a heck of Beatrice TP. But I don't think you'd be doing your
guiding in Heaven for some reason.
Dante just doesn't quote as well in English as Milton. All those triplets
lose something in the translation. And its not just the rhyme. Besides,
Dante is so specific to his time and place that you usually need a page of
footnotes to explain every triplet.
Never was much of a Bosch fan.

honestly, i go to the she, he was an organism statement... dunno if i would
fire up the grill, usually the ones in pain r the ones left behind trying to
make sense of their own life dynamics. the ones gone r just that... i dont
talk about the implied "other side" because there seems to b no imperical
evidence to define what happens.

from a logical perspective one might consider the following:

"if god is not, whether u lead ur life piously or sinfully is immaterial.
but suppose that god is. then if u bet against the existence of god by
refusing to live a life of piety and sacraments you run the risk of eternal
damnation; the winner of the bet that god exists has the possibility of
salvation. as salvation is clearly preferable to eternal damnation, (and no,
eternal damnation does not mean a big party of bacchnalian proportions ~
nice try sword LoL) the correct decision is to act on the basis that god
is."*

which, being an atheist myself, i find difficult to accept from an emotional
standpoint but from a purely rational standpoint... i dont see a better
argument regarding belief. (note this is a non-demoninational belief system
we describe)

credited to peter l bernstein*

That's only valid if you buy into the existance of a judgemental God TP.
I love how the christian ethos mangages to work around the inconsistancies
between the Old and New Testament Gods. Wrathful, vengful destroyer of
infidels on one hand, and kind, forgiving savior on the other. God sounds
awful schizo to me.
If there is a God, I would hope that such a Supreme Being would be so far
above our petty existance that he would be pure benevolence. My God would
be an indifferent being. Thinking that such an entity would care about
whether you kicked the neighbor's dog is like us getting upset over the
death of plankton in an anemonie's tentacles. Heck, I don't think we'd even
rate that high in the grand scheme of the unverse(s).

LMFAO, yup been there done that, all while i was downing a beer and burnin a
fat one, just to go to school the next day with still red eye's and a much
more open mind to reality. Thought the very same things lol. I came to the
conclusion that all humans that live on earth will be joined TOGETHER after
death (the good and the bad) , because what is life on earth anyway? It's
the opportunity to enjoy feelings, emotions, ambitions, achievements,
failures, humiliation, fear, love, pain and hate. All things that a pure
energy source could never posses. Without all these, humans could never
truly be alive and therefore could never fully appreciate LIFE.
I was 6 years old and at church one Sunday, when I read about how GOD took
sides between two groups of humans that were about to battle.
Even at the age of 6 I was totally knocked back in my chair when I realized
that GOD was a very BAD example of what a good human should be like.If I had
a GOD that were a true GOD, he would never take sides of ANY human, he would
bring humans together and not help destroy which ever side pissed him off...
From that day forth, I knew without a doubt, that GOD was no true entity,
but rather a tool created by humans for humans to rule humans. I realized
from then on that all mankind was actually the entity of which they prayed
to and that all mankind posses within themselves what they are searching
for, but are unable to see themselves for what they truly are, and shall
spend eternity searching for what is right in front of us. So I realized
also that mankind was afraid to accept the fact that we are what we seek,
for if only a GOD could create life, then our quest is answered. We humans
CREATE LIFE and we HUMANS CAN PUT THE LIGHT OF LIFE OUT.
We will all continue to be lost until the day comes that we all accept the
fact that we and we alone are responsible for our actions and only we can
forgive ourselves and we must all accept and live with our mistakes and our
mistakes can never be brushed aside by praying to a statue or an imaginary
entity.

well i think that since most written descriptions of "god" (irrespective of
denomination) include dogmatic syntax... it seems obvious to me that "all
gods" would "judge" based upon their own centric belief system.

have u ever read "the battle for god" kam? (by karen armstrong) i know i
recommended it before in FANG... dunno if u saw it. a very interesting

No its not "Starry Night". Although I do like it, I prefer "La Nuit
Etoilee" if I want starry Van Gogh. Not Sunflowers or cypress trees either,
though both are also great. The Van Gogh that occupies my spiritual center
is Irises. "View of Arle with Irises" has been my permanent wallpaper at
work since, well... forever. "Irises" and "Iris" along with "Arle" form my
holy Van Gogh trinity. "The Olive Trees" and "Olive Orchard" aren't too
shabby either, and any of the "Anemone" works are quite satisfying. I could
go on at length about why these paintings ring my bell, but I'd be typing
all night.

I'm glad you read what I meant and not what I typed. "Expressionism" must
have been a Freudian slip. Macke and Marc are way up there on my list.
I guess you can see that color and composition are what grab me. Like I
said. Plebian.

I'm not really familiar with Kenneth Clark. You'll have to educate me.

If you want to talk nudes... How about Olivia? More what you'd expect from
me?

I'm pleased that I can provide you with an occaisional surprise or two TP.
Remember, I'm a hedonist in every sense of the word. I believe in indulging
myself in both the physical and the metaphysical.

No path is too low or too high to travel in my quest for gratification.

Speaking of that... I'm planning a trip to Bangkok over Thanksgiving. :p

No b-ball for me TP. I do work with an ex-LV sports editor who hung with
Tark though, and I used to know a guy who provided many of his players with
uh.. never mind.

Wierd... your last post disappeared from this profile, but shows up in
another profile I have. My last reply doesn't show up here either. Did you
get my "Homage to Van Gogh" reply to your "Starry Night" question TP? The
FANG seems a bit flakey tonight.

> "if god is not, whether u lead ur life piously or sinfully is immaterial.

Package deal alert! Two in one, in fact. First, pious vs sinful is a false
comparison. There might be good vs evil, or pious vs non- religious. But
being religious is assumed to be the opposite of sinful here. No evidence
to support that. (It could be stated as an arbitrary assertion, and could
be argued about, but it was snuck in here in order to skew the argument onto
the basis of such an arbitrary assertion.) Second, if we let that slide,
and allow the argument to proceed on the premise that if there is no god
then it does not matter whether you lead your life good or evil, then we
have to accept that good vs evil have no meaning outside the context of some
supernatural entity. This does not follow from any observational experience
at all. Actually, whether you lead your life based on evil or good is very
material indeed! Outside the context of any other entity at all.

The rest of the argument is then based on the above false and arbitrarily
asserted premises.

But, if I were a betting man, I would take that bet, based on my
observational experience that;

I have never known of or heard of anyone suffering eternal damnation, (in
fact I don't know anyone that was damned by a god, and I don't know whether
eternity is over yet so we could know whether the damnation was eternal),

I have never known or heard of anyone suffering salvation either.

Anyone who wishes to assert such damnation or salvation is welcomed to bring
any evidence of such to bear, and as with everything I will consider the
evidence and decide on the basis of reality.

I once considered myself an atheist for many years.  I am a very scientific person, and you would think that I would lean towards not believing in God.  However, the more I learn about the world and how it works, the more I believe in God.

I have seen too many things in my life that cannot be explained by fate or coincidence.  The only reasonable explanation left to me is that there must be a greater being that pulls all our strings.

If you look at the most intelligent people that have lived before us (Newton. Einstein, Bohr, Plank, Schrodinger, etc...).  They were all very religious.  Einstein himself was quoted as saying "God does not play dice with the universe", in response to theories of probability.

Many of us believe in God (in one way or another).  I don't have a problem with you disagreeing with us, but everyone should respect our position on this matter.

As far as I am concerned, there is a God and nobody can may me believe different.
