if this game were perfect there would be swastikas on the ge planes, and
roughly 25 more planes to choose from.but i am happy with fa2 so far vr1 has
done a great job with it so far.it would be cool if we could select
different plane skins according to score or aces.Rammer

They better not put swastikas on my plane! I lost both grandfathers in WWII
and I hate everything that the swastikas stand for...also I haven't seen
many photos of GE planes with swastikas on them, just the cross thinggie.

Yes, they had swastikas on the planes, but it is a insignificant detail for
realism. There are many who feels the same as JumpingJax (it has been a thread
in the NG earlier) so respect them and stop asking for swastikas on the planes.

Are you sure you hate everything that the Swastika stands for? I can understand
hating what the germans used it for in WW2 but look into the Swastika it is an
Ancient symbol that was used all over europe and even American Indian
countries. I never noticed the Swastikas missing and could car less but before
you say "I hate everything that the Swastika stands for" You might want to look
into the Rune for Good luck.

personally i don't care if they have swastikas or not, was just saying i
know they had them cause i just saw one, and i've seen them on planes in old
films. long as the plane flies and has guns, i don't really care what's on
it or not.

i never asked for them to be on the planes. honestly i don't care one way
or the other.

Adding swastikas to GE planes would make them more historically correct, but too
many people still have strong feelings associated with that symbol (WWII is
still recent history, relatively speaking). Since this is an on-line game, we
have to be sensitive to that. Having a clear swastika symbol on GE planes just
isn't worth it.

Holy Crap,

I cant believe that this is an issue. My Grandfather was captured by
the Japanese in 1944 and later executed (Very documented). But I don't
get all freaked out when I see the "Rising Sun". I don't freak out
everytime I see a Confederate Flag.
How bout Halloween ? Should we ban kids wearing satanic costumes?
When I drive through Waco, should I keep an eye out for the letters ATF
?
The Swaztika is just simple lines. Nothing more, nothing less. If a
little cross gives you flashbacks then you people surely need to see a
doctor.
My Brother In law's Dad is 100% Jewish and lived in the bad times.
Though I totally respect his veiws on the "Nazi Party", to him it is a
thing of the past. He dont hit the ground shaking when he gets near the
oven, in fact, I admire his humor about the evil oven. Yes it was a
terrible time in the world just as slavery was. But Its done and over.
Move on and make life better, don't dwell in the past. To me , the
Swaztika is nothing more than an artifact from the past. Just like
Dinosaur bones, Which I also don't freak out when I see .

Hey, they keep painting Russian planes in ugly brown/black colors.
Common, as far as I recall it is not even totaly realistic. Colors like
blue, grey, green, and even silver was used on Russian plane. Sturmovik
in green/black cammo would look much nicer. What is brown nose is doing
on Yak-3? It is sucks that you cut Russian plane performance, but making
them into ugly crap is even worse.

I personaly have NOTHING against swasticas in German planes IN THE
GAME. I would be concirned with svastka on the house, a wall, or any
other place, but not in the history related game, history book, or any
other place which have something to do with history. Yes, my family
lived through German occupation and I have lots of relatives who died in
WWII. Germans just walk into the house of my great grand father and shot
him just on the suspision of suporting partisans, then burn the house
down, living my grand mother family homeless. My grandfather lived
through German occupation, then was drafted, but did not fought in
combat. His brother was less lucky and was killed in combat, as I recall
had been blown up on the mine. On my mother side, my grandfather escaped
as a kid from Blockade of Leningrad, while his father had died from
wounds he recieved in combat. My granmother walked hundreds of miles on
foot to excape occupation, then lived very hungry and deprived life
thousands of miles away from home. But I think to be offended is stupid.
Do you see German plane in the book with swastika, do you get offended
and burn the book? Never open it again? When Russian Army roll through
Germany they killed, raped, looted, and then it followed with 40 years
of occupation. Allied troops were better, but they also did some
horrible things in Germany. Treatment of German POWs were substantialy
worse than treatment of American POWs by Germans. Thousands and
thousans, if not hundreds of thousands of Germans had perished from
deseases and starvation and desease in Allied and Soviet camps. Hell, it
seams that millions civilians perished in 1945-1948 too. So, Germans
are pissed, Japanese pissed, hell, lots of people pissed. So, should we
remove red stars from Russian planes also. Americans killed hundreds of
thousands civilians in Germany and Japan, hell they drop the bomb on
them. Russian artilery got loose on Berlin so much that it is actualy
affected the weather. They were not exactly killing German solders or
trying to win the war, they were teaching Germans a lesson by murdering
women, children, elderly, everybody. In my book it does score as
honoroble behavior. Sure, German were even worse, so what? We have
ourselves standing chest deep in blood. Japanese also did some even
worst shit than Germans in China, like use of chemical and
bacteriological weapons. Japanese planes in the game still have their
"rising suns". I guess they have their suns because they murders have
more to do with Chinese than Jews. So, should we remove white stars from
American plane? Same for British? Common, lets not stick political
correctness into the game. There is lots of people who hate to see that
Red or White star on your wing too. Just because we are winners, and
they are loosers, does not meen much. Plus, looser Japanese still have
their "suns". What can I say? You don't like swastika, get over it.

I don't mind if there is svastikas on German planes, I don't care if
there is not. But I offended by all the wining and political
correctness.

And how does this viewpoint fit in with your recently-aired feelings

Excellent post. I agree that keeping swastikas off is a ridiculous
idea (although, to be honest, I hadn't noticed until this just came
up). I think the reason may be that Germany actually has laws
forbidding the display of swastikas which also apply to computer
games; maybe MS/VR1 are trying to minimise any international legal
problems with downloading the game?

Due to the fact you raise a good point , I owe you an answer on the.

I have to admit, there is no difference when comparing the past war
between Northern Ireland and the English , to the war between the Nazi
Party and the Jews.
I will however point out, that in "My Opinion" the English in general
seem to think that the World owes them. Not much different then people
from New Jersey.
I dont have to agree with the English because the truth be known, both
the IRA and the Brits are a bit Pig headed. Unlike the Jew vs Nazi
differences, the IRA vs Brits has been going on for well over 500 years
and will not be resolved in my lifetime.
But I still don't get the shakes when I see a British Flag.

Have a nice Day !!!!!!

I seem to remember seeing what appeared to be a swastika on the GE tower in
FA1.5, but I never flew close enough to see if it actually was..... It may
have been something else, but from the runway it looked like it was a
swastika........

I think it was not added on the GE planes to avoid offending people.....

Wow, good post.

I have to agree with a much of what you said. My mom was in Manchester on
Christmas 1940 and her (family) house was bombed flat. Luft waited until eve
of Dec 23rd to bomb when all the children were home from the evacuation
camps for Christmas. She can't talk about it- incendiary raid... (Strange
thing, but she still knows the Polish National anthem that was taught to her
by the Polish Pilots in the RAF as they would often come to the evac camps
in Blackpool to play with the kids - Tell a Polish joke around my mom and
she will rip your head off :)) I had relatives from my fathers mother in
Germany and Holland - Hamburg was unthinkable... The Germans got it back
from the RAF in spades.

However, I think that since the swastika is a symbol of current Neo Nazism
it takes on a different meaning in many peoples minds than say the rising
sun. It is a symbol currently being used by some seriously bent people and I
suppose that is why it was removed from the planes and not so much for
historical reasons. (?) I am no supporter of political correctness (I am a
Birch Society member) but I can understand why Microsoft did what they did.
Perhaps they may have been thinking about bad press or even litigation
against them for having swastikas in their game?

Ching
