i have just installed nvidia geforce 4 and am getting
problems with wolfenstein,it keeps crashing, leaving just
the mouse pointer.this also happens with medal of honor
and hidden and dangerous.my display tab is also showing 2
monitors,my plug n play and an unknown monitor, despite
removing them, windows 98 still detects both of them again?
i have noticed that the graphics card is sharing an irq
setting with my modem, which isn't connected when playing
games.
system = amd athlon 1000hz processor,256 mb ram, 20 gig
hard disk,directx 8.1 installed
any help would be really appreciated, thanks

First, I would suggest that you check to see that the card
is compatible with Win 98.
Second, Check to see if you have the correct driver
installed. Third, check first in you Motherboard (User
Manual) to see if there are any pre-assigned or shared
IRQ's for the slots on the board. You may have to move
your modem. You may have to un-install the modem physical
(meaning taking it right out of you PC) reinstalling the
video driver then reinstalling the modem (possibly in a
new slot). As far as seeing the extra monitor, check with
manufactory, they maybe able to tell you how to solve
this. With the set-up I can't suggest anything except that
some other cards I have dealt with there have been
controls that allow you to turn on and off the second
monitor.

>Thanks for your help,Leon.
I have subsequently discovered that my internal power
unit was faulty. It has now been replaced, and everything
is working fine.A good tip for anyone else who is
experiencing the same problems with games.
Once again thanks for your advice.
