I have installed FRx6.7 w/sp10 on a 64 bit machine. Cannot "define" the ODBC
drivers in the company tab but can do so in the \%windows%\SysWow64 directory
with the odbcad32.exe program but still will not connect. Error message is
"database is read only." Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To my knowledge the FRx application is not supported on a 64 bit OS:

Since Microsoft Dynamics SL 7 Feature Pack 1 now supports 64 bit computing,
are there any plans to migrate FRx6.7 to a 64 bit platform? If not, what is
the suggested reporting and report generating environment?

Dynamics GP has been supported on 64-bit for a long time, so having the GL
package supported doesn't mean FRx will be. The answer that's been given
for GP is that you do not install a 64-bit OS on client machines that need
to run FRx and if your server has a 64-bit OS, then you do not install the
FRx application on it.

I thought I heard something about FRx 6.7 SP 11 being supported on 64-bit,
but I am not able to find anything official on that. Maybe someone else
reading this has more info?

FRx is not officially supported on a 64 bit operating system, but I run it on
my 64 bit Vista laptop and it runs fine.

You just need to apply service pack 10 before it will run.

It runs in 32bit emulation and not true 64bit mode. But it does run.

I have not heard what the official ruling was for making sp11 64bit
compatable.

Do you have any experience with successfully exporting reports to excel when
running FRX 6.7 SP10 on 64-bit Vista Laptop and if so which version of
office does it work with?

Thanks

Rick, but if there is a problem Microsoft will not support this, right?

Ah; the million dollar question.

We will do best effort support for issues in a 64bit environment -
typically. But there is always that situation where a support technician
will say that this would need to be tested on a 32bit environment. But more
often than not we will still attempt to help figure out the problem.

The service pack did not go through the full battery of testing in a 64bit
OS environment, so if issues come up with that environment specifically we
might be limited on what we can do to fix the issue.

It's very similar to Citrix issues. We will often ask that you take Citrix
out of the picture to make sure it is not the Citrix environment causing the
issue.

But again - I have not seen any issues in the year I have been running Vista
64.

As it has been stated in this thread, FRx 6.7 *should* work on the x64
version of Windows Vista. As with other 32-bit apps, FRx will run in WOW
(Windows on Windows, which runs applications in a 32-bit environment on a
64-bit Windows OS).

There will no version of FRx 6.7 that natively supports 64-bit Windows -
this isn't possible. The majority of FRx 6.7 is based on Visual Basic 6.0.
The VB6 runtime is supported in WOW64, but not natively. More information on
this can be found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vbrun/ms788708.aspx

I hope this helps.
