Hi,

My environment:
Windows2003 , IIS6.0, Frontpage Server ext 2002, Frontpage
2003

Frontpage user - assigned role permission as follows(also
tried individual role)
administrator, Advanced author, author, contributor

The user can login to the site using Frontpage2003. Create
a page, modify and copy a file but cannot delete anything.

When the user tried to delete a file, error message
appears as

"Server error: The server extensions were unable to access
the file "frontpg.lck". Please check the file permissions."

This problem surface recently.. The site has been running
for more than a year.

Anyone encountered similar problem?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Wea,

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the home directory of the web site.
Make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' option is enabled. Open the
_vti_pvt folder. Delete the frontpg.lck file.

Restart the web site and try deleting.

Hope this helps

Yes. There was a frontpg.lck there. I removed it and the problem was gone!
Thanks

BTW, Anyone know why or how the frontpg.lck got stuck there? A server bug or
improper frontpage connection?
Anyway to prevent it from happening again?

Hi Wea Tan,

It can be due to lot of reasons. One among them is abnornam shutdown.

I am having the same problem (unable to access the file. Check file
permisions) but I am not able to follow your instructions. I was able to get
into my wen site but could not find the file frontpg.lck. Can you be more
specific on how to find and delete this file? I am using FrontPage 2002 and
have no clue as to how to set server permissions as I'm a 74 year old man
playing a young man's game. The web site address is ww.shsclassof48.com
Thanks for any help you can give me
