extensions and webot include

Hi all,

Our web servers have front page extensions installed. Do these extensions
allow for the webbot include tag from front page to process includes
regardless of the file extension (example: .htm instead of .shtml)? For ssi,
all files must be .shtml but I've noticed some sort of strange divergence
between what I see when I open a page in expression web and other wysiwyg
type editors and what I see when I open the same files for editing in
something like notepad++ (or other text editors)?
