Please, explain, why almost every time I try to use ActiveX controls
(TreeView, progress bar etc.) in my form, I get an error message:
"OLE error code 0x80040112
Appropriate license for this class not found".
I work with VFP5 under W95 and WNT4.
Please, e-mail me, if You have any ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Vincas

You can download a file from the Visual FoxPro Yellow Pages called Fox.reg.
Using 'Run' from your start menu, run regedit. Import fox.reg and that
should alleviate your class registration problem. If not you can try
uninstalling and reinstalling VFP.

Donald

BTW, I posted this to the newsgroup instead of e-mailing you because others
may have this same issue.

Hi Donald,

Would you mind telling us exactly what are the FoxPro Yellow Pages.
I have the same problem and searched the MS site all over but could not
find the
file Fox.reg that you mentioned. Thanks.

You probably installed SP2 for Visual Studio. I did, and then I got the
same problem you have. I too searched high and low for anything on the web
or in the newsgroups that would give me even a clue as to what was wrong.
I re-installed, uninstalled, really-uninstalled <g>, shook some beads,
recited the sacred mantra of Wizards, but nothing worked. Although several
people had some ideas, nothing helped until I finally broke down and <gasp>
called Microsoft. This was my second to last choice, because if that
didn't work, I was going to take Jim Booth's DevCon advice and format my
hard drive.

A very nice man named Peter, approximately two hours later, finally figured
out that I was missing a key in my registry. He recited what was
apparently the correct mantra to me, involving a whole bunch of "N as in
Nancy" and "B as in Boy" type phrases, which I dutifully recorded in my
registry. After that I was able to add the TreeView control to my forms
again! In homage, I sacri...deleted a few files as a symbolic tribute to
the FDISK/FORMAT gods.

I asked if I could pass along the correct key/value to others who might
experience the same problem, but was instructed not to do so--obviously
because of the awe-inspiring word "license". However, a call to MS should
resolve the problem. My problem and solution are now in the tech support
peoples' knowledge base and might even make it into the public KB. I think
the latter will happen soon if more of us call MS with this tech-support
question. The number you want to use depends on how you bought VFP. That
makes sense right? From the help menu under Tech Support, here they are:
VFP only: (206) 635-7191
Vis Studio professional: 206-635-7012
Vis Studio enterprise: 206-635-7012 (looks the same as the one
above...hmmm)

As an aside, I first called MS in Japan, since that's where I work (in
Japan I mean, not at MS). The nice lady at MS set me straight by telling
me that Visual FoxPro is not included in Visual Studio-Enterprise edition.
In fact, she had no idea what Visual FoxPro was. Obviously, the reason I
was getting this error was because, in fact, I didn't even have FoxPro. I
wish I could use this logic with *my* clients.

Good luck,
Nick Drochak

Hi Vincas

Are you sure that you have registred the COMCTL32.OCX file ?

If not, then try to run C:\Windows\System\Regsvr32.exe Comctl32.ocx

Donald, You are right, the only one thing I can add is that file fox.reg may
be found in site http://www.universalthread.com/cgi-bin/vfpwebn.exe
