Hi Gary:

There were many versions of FoxPro 2.0. In some cases, there was an upgrade
every few weeks!

It sounds like the compiled code does not match the version of the Fox.exe
or OVL file; therefore, you get the error. I don't know of any way to tell
what version of FoxPro 2.0 the application was compiled under.

I wonder if this could be a compatibility issue under Windows 2000. have
you tried starting the application under Windows 95 compatibility mode.
You find this option under the Compatibility tab of a desktop shortcut.

I hope this helps.

Hi Lee,
Appreciate your quick response. I think it is Windows 2000
compatibility issue cause the same application with the same command line is
currently working fine on Win 95 OS machine.

I couldn't find the option to run application under Windows 95 compatibility
mode. There was no Compatibility tab in the desktop shortcut. Shortcut is a
PIF extension file. And I'm running Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

Hi Gary:

Instead of making the shortcut to the PIF, make the shortcut point to the
Fox.exe. I think you should see the Compatibility tab now.

Hi Lee,
Thanks for your help again. I followed your instructions, but still
do not see the 'compatibility' tab. Do I have to make any changes in
'Administrative Tools' for it to show up in the shortcut.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Gary

Hi Gary:

Are you logged in with administrator rights? I am running on XP, and I see
it; and I am almost positive it is in Windows 2000.

Hi Lee,
Yes. I am logged in as Administrator. I tried running the same code
on my Windows XP computer at home. It has the compatibility tab for the
desktop icons. But, when I tried to run fox.exe from 'foxpro2' folder on the
dos-prompt, I am getting the same error message "EXE and OVL file do not
match". I did select Run in "Windows 95" environment in the compatibility
tab. As well as choose various other screen size & resolution settings, but
in vain.

Appreciate your help.

Amardeep

Hi Gary:

I don't know. Is it possible that you really have mismatched files like the
error states?

Have you tried running the program all the anti virus disabled and not
scanning any files?

Hi Lee,
Thanks you for the quick response. I will copy the files from
Windows 95 machine again and try to run them.

No, I have not disabled Anti virus and ran the program. I will disable it
and try to run the program then. I will get back to you on both the details
asap.

Appreciate your help.

Hi Gary:

If none of my ideas help, then I would try posting this question on
www.universalthreead.com. They have a VFP forum, and I think they have a
section dealing with obsolete products. Since we have not supported FoxPro
2.x since at least 1999, a lot of my troubleshooting knowledge is rusty at
best.
