I have just got myself a new laptop and I know nothing about computers, so
please be patient with me. The mouse on my laptop seems to have a mind of its
own. When I hover the pointer over something it just clicks on its own
accord. I have tried changing the settings for the mouse but to no avail.
Laptop - Advent 7088
mouse - Synaptics TouchPad V5.9
Any help would be gratefully appreciated Thanks

This newsgroup supports the Visual Foxpro software development tool. You
might get a better answer in a hardware-related newsgroup, or even calling
technical support for your laptop.

Congratulations on the new laptop!
As Dan said, this is a FoxPro group, but some of us are experienced Windows
users. The first thing I thought of was the Automatically move pointer to
the default button in the Mouse Control Panel, and the Single-click to open
(point to select) option in the Explorer Folder Options.
Also, since you have a laptop I assume it has a touch pad. It's really easy
to do things when your sleeves hit the touchpad. There are usually
sensitivity settings in the Mouse Control Panel, (or perhaps somewhere
else), especially if your laptop's specialized drivers are installed (the
computer should come that way) rather than depending on the drivers that
come in-the-box with Windows.

Thanx for the advice. I've just had another play around and found the
setting for the actual mouse software rather than the windows stuff as you
said. It seems to have improved somewhat.
Many thanx again for your kind help.

Never feel bad for being a confused newbie. All of us here are continually
learning new things and we're all confused newbies in some technology area.
