VFP and _CUROBJ

Hi, i'm porting my application from fox2.5 to vfp5 and my question is :

in code of edit1.valid :

if .......
......
_curobj=objnum(m.variable1)
else
.......
_curobj=objnum(m.variable2)
endif

This _curobj cause an error.......any solution ?
