1. There is a prompt with a range of accounts that pops up when a report is
opened - how does one remove the prompt?
2. New at creating reports out of Forecaster - set up line (a grouping of
departments defined in the department rollup list), column (a range of
reporting periods), calculation and set up a report that referenced the
relevant line/col/calc - the report yields the format/line description of the
lines but yields no data - what could be wrong...?
Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you desire your departments (assignable segment) to be the lines
of both reports. That type of report showcases Forecaster’s reporting
flexibility, however most standard reports have the account (reversible
segment) as the lines and the department as the prompt. The prompt is the
power behind Forecaster and allows you to design one report that works with
both posting and summary level departments. So, to answer your questions:
1. You remove the prompt by “fixing” it to a single value (thereby removing
the robust power of the report design. To fix the prompt, go to Build>Reports
Worksheet and then find the report row. Scan over to the Prompt field. This
field should contain the ID of the segment not used in as the lines. Click
F2 to edit the field and after the segment ID, type “=ACC_ID”, where ACC_ID
is the specific ID of the account (or whatever segment you are using) that
you want to report on. Save the report worksheet screen, open or refresh
the report and the prompt will be inactive.
2. Check to make sure your column set contains valid period IDs that house
data. Also, make sure the prompt is set to an account that has balances.
The prompt icon looks like the “Open Folder” icon.
I hope this helps. The MSX Group offers consulting and training classes for
Forecaster. We can quickly build or teach you how to create dozens of
reports using best practices. Forecaster reports are the best way to
leverage you data for in-depth value-adding analysis. Please feel free to
