I have assigned 2 different spread methods to employees - both based on
working days. Does the spread method affect benefits as well as salaries? I
am getting results that don't make sense. For instance, benefits for
salaried employees spread the benefit evenly across the periods - in other
words ignoring the spread method. Benefits for hourly employees return
results that do not appear to be based on the spread method but are also not
spread evenly either. Both salaried and hourly employees appear to be setup
correctly.

Okay. This answer is complicated.

First, FIXED benefits are supposed to be even all the time. There is a bug,
defect number 376106, which is related to Hourly employees which have spread
methods assigned to them -- their fixed benefits do not calculate evenly as
they should. So, are you using Hourly employees? Could that be the issue?
I am currently unaware of a workaround for this other than not using a spread
method. If I find one, I will post back.

Variable, rate-based benefits should spread based on the spread method
because they are fully based on the salary+overtime+bonus in each period.

I hope this helps explain the situation.
