Key for Windows Server 2008

I'm trying to activate Windows Server 2008 (Standard, English) downloaded
from the Software section of the Faculty Connection portal. However, when
after installation I'm trying to change the key to the one I was given in the
processes of downloading the ISO image, I'm getting the following message:

"The product key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows
Server. You must either run Windows Server Setup of enter a Windows Server
Standard product key"

Am I doing something wrong?

We have looked into this and the key seems to work OK. You mentioned
something about changing the key and I am not sure what you mean by this.
