I'm trying to insert some code from the ProvideSupport.com website. The code
is meant to produce the necessary icons that will permit people to chat live
with an operator at a website. When I copy the code into the code of the
master.dwt that I am creating in EW, it will not produce the desired results
as no icons appear on the Design Page. When I save it, it will not ask me if
I want to distribute it to all 23 pages as it does when I make other changes
to the dwt.

Additional possibly relevant information may include the fact that I am
trying to copy the javascript code into a div and place the icon in the
verticle navagation bar on the left side of the pagee. ............. however
I am not sure why this would make a difference.

Anyone out there who can enlighten me. thanks.

I have no idea what difference copying into a div, or near to the left
navigation, will make since I have no idea what your markup looks like. But,
in general:

If you copy the code into an editable region of the DWT it will not copy
propagate into any attached pages.
If you edit the DWT outside the web site (website not open or not using
Expression Web) saving the DWT will not propagate any changes.

I thought it was clear that I was copying the code into a non-editable region
(the navigation bar on the left hand side) in order to be able to populate
ALL the pages in the website. I've done this with other items before and it
has worked just fine. I don't understand why this particular javascript does
not "take".

I don't know the answer to your problem - but "the left navigation bar" is
not always a non-editable region: in my DWTs the left navigation bars are
in *editable* regions, because I change the navigation between sections of
the site.

Have you tried changing another part of the DWT to see if that change
propagates? It may be that the links between DWT and pages are broken. Try
