In this case it looks like Digital River - but they may get pricing from
Microsoft.
As Senn said, the UK Microsoft store is offering a download for £62, but
http://misco.co.uk are listing the boxed version at £60.00 (none in stock)
Also bear in mind the $$ price quoted excludes sales taxes paid in USA -
often around 8 or 10%, and UK prices are never a direct translation of the
$$ price - if they were the price would vary hour to hour, though when it
comes to software I usually find the $/£ rate to be nearer 1-1 than
whatever the banks say it is.

The alternative is to travel to the states and buy from there. This
would cost you $79 plus your air ticket and hotel expenses.
Or you could download DW CS4 trial version and look for a crack to
convert it to full version.
The choice is yours.

My actual price, if I bought it in my state would be $86.31. This would
equate, with today's exchange rate, would equate to ソス52.36.
When you look at Microsoft's pricing of ソス60 minus 15% tax, the pricing
is ソス52.18 for the product sans taxes. This means the UK rate, if you buy
at Microsoft's ソス60 suggested retail, is 18 pence cheaper than it should
be. But, since the rates change quite a bit ...
The pricing of ソス86.00 is probably a partner site?
Now, sticking with EW1 is a decision that can be made regardless of
pricing. ;-)

But most company purchases do not pay VAT as the cost is recoverable against VAT
on any sales i.e. my company buys 1000 of stuff and pays 150 VAT (at 15%
rate). It then sells other stuff including consultancy for 2000 and charges VAT
of 300 to the client. It pays only 150 (the difference) to the government.

There are 10 types of people, those that understand binary and those that don't.
I was excluding tax from the prices on both sides of the Atlantic. VAT
in the EU is higher (and more difficult to avoid!) than the total
(State + Locality) Sales Tax in any US jurisdiction that I know of,
which makes things worse, but a substantial differential exists (and
has always done so) even without that.
You can also usually get better deals that Microsoft's direct prices
for most of their "products" on both sides of the Atlantic, but the
transatlantic price differential tends to be maintained even between
the best deals on either side.

Hello,
I saw that there was an option to upgrade my EW1 to EW3 for $79.
$79 converts to ?47.89 GB Pounds at the current exchange rate - it seemed
reasonable so I started the purchase procedure.
I was taken to a European MS site where the price was ?86.00 GB Pounds - it
explained that there was a 15% tax added for European purchases.
But ?47.89 + 15% = ?55.08
It looks like I will stay with EW1 - who is trying to rip me off?

Unfortunately, and for no rational reason that I have ever been able
to determine. Microsoft's ? prices for most things (hardware,
software, MSDN subscriptions) are and have always been significantly
higher than what you would expect if you simply applied a current
exchange rate to the dollar price. They may (now) argue that they are
recouping the considerable costs of doing business in the EU, but the
differential antedates the worst of these (for Microsoft). They also
get you (for subscriptions, at least) if you move across the Atlantic
- you cannot simply update an annual MSDN subscription purchased when
you lived on one side of the Atlantic if you now live on the other -
you have to buy a new subscription for the full price!

Their prices in individual contries is partly determined by "per capita
income"
I ran into this information some years ago on a page of MS's own. What
"per capita income" means is explained here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Per_capita_income
Though, it does not fully explain price differences. But buying EW3 in us.
at the ms-store page informed price of $79. Wound't it be included a vat ?.
If so it came closer to a uk. ms-store price of ?62, which has all included
(except a DVD shipping).
