I do not see any attachments in this newsgroup, is there a different
newsgroup maybe a binary where the the art work is being posted?

There are a few image posted in the newsgroup but you are probably reading
this from the web version. The following link should set up this account for
you in your newsreader.

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.expression.discussion

Also, did you see the sample files that installed with the program?
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Code Name Acrylic\Samples. I have a few other
example on my web site but I want to confirm the artists approval before
sharing them with you.

why would anyone download software without being able to see examples of what
it can do?
Disk space on my home machine is much too valuable to waste time on the
unknown.

Acrylic isn't in the marketing phase yet. We will have plenty of examples
when the time comes. Right now we are only looking for people who will help
give us feedback and, as you can see, we've found them! :-)

I have made my very first attempt in Acrylics. But where to post a pic? Is it
possible in this forum. Great software by the way! I have used it for one
hour and I am impressed!

The link was a direct link to the group:
microsoft.public.expression.discussion. I wonder if the link got cut off in
the post. It does that sometimes when the link is too long.

Here is a link to my first attempt. I used just one vector brush tool for
this image and frequently rasterized it. The rasterized vector layer was
dropped before I created a new vector layer. I painted with the same brush
and rasterized it and dropped, and so on... Until I had made this
expressionistic face...

I love that! To me, this type of artwork is exactly what Acrylic does best.
Thanks for posting and I hope you'll share more of your artwork with us!

An eye I did in Expression... Also look there for some links to Alexander
Remisov?s art. Truly great stuff. All done with Expresison 3. Acrylic
surpasses the possibilities of course by allowing you to use vectors &
bitmaps.

Your third image says "Expression + PS." I assume that means PhotoShop? I'm
curious: what did PhotoShop allow you to do to the image that you couldn't
do in Expression? And how did the flower image get in the original photo? It
looks like it was added?

Hi! Walterius!

I used some strokes and bluring as well as smearing to make the eye more
"real". I´m happy to know we can now do ALL this using only Acrylic.
Personally I find the process of having to take your drawings "here" and
"there" to be bothering. I like the idea of a "self sustained" software.
I´ve been working on some drawings in Acrylic where I´ve tried to challenge
how far can one get using both bitmaps and vectors at the same time. Results
are being very satisfying and this really is creating a new way for me to
think when designing or drawing. Hopefully I´ll get to post some things in
the future...

The flower was already there... you´re right! looks added but for some
reason It was there already... perhaps some fireworks going on or some light
effect.

Keep posting!

Annie,

Have seen an attachment, using the MSnews.microsoft.com news server. I
was using the microsoft.public.expression.discussion and as it was not
a binary maybe my ISP was stripping the all the attachments.

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.expression.discussion

Thanks your above fix has solved that minor Usenet comunication
problem.

Here is a link to my second picture made with Acrylic. It is a different one,
more like a botanical study. Since you wrote that Acrylic is best at one
thing I wanted to examin it's strenghth in other areas. And it happens it's
very good at this task. I did not make a very big effeort wit this pic, just
2 1/2 hour or so. But I am certain that Acrylic (and me) can make this kind
of task work very well togeather. I think I will come up wit a rose-study
next time. Here is the link to my new (second) pic made with Acrylic:
