I've a few questions about Expression Web and Studio. First, my wife and I
wish to work on web pages together, on our home LAN. We have
Windows 7 all over the house, and a shared WD Book II on the LAN as well.
My wife is a disgruntled (to say the least) Macromedia user, and
has wanted to get away from Dreamweaver and Flash for a long time! I've
been a Microsoft loyalist since DOS 1.1 and ASM (I don't program like 20
years ago though!), but have hesitated to jump into either Flash or
Silverlight until we had a chance to settle down and get back to not being
house renovation experts (it's a long story). I'd like to author web
content, and learn how to produce animation in Silverlight as well as
music/video.

Do we both need Expression Studio 3, or does a subset work for this?

We both have been Office users since v.95 and she has been a Dreamweaver
victim for years. Does an upgrade price apply to either or both of us?

Is there a discount for buying 2-3 licenses?

Thanks for your help in the above.

Best regards

Upgrade pricing applies to both of you, that's the good news.

The bad news is that the license is per user so you would need two licenses.
However, I'm not sure if you both need Expression Studio. If only one of you
will be using Silverlight/WPF you may only need one license for Blend.

If you are creating web pages professionally you might want to check out
WebsiteSpark to see if you meet the program requirements.
http://www.microsoft.com/web/websitespark/ if you do it would be your lowest
price entry point.

Thanks for answering Cheryl,

I think we'd both be compositing Silverlight at some point - this would mean
more than just Blend, correct?

Cheryl,

The last question on the form wants to know whom referred me. Are you [a] a
Hosting Partner, [b] a Network Partner, or [c] A Microsoft Contact.?

Hi Cheryl,

Indeed I got approved at Websitespark, but can't find a difference between
the regular upgrade price and something through them. The links there just
go to the Expression Studio pages, same upgrade price but it's better than a
sharp stick in the eye!

Log into website spark and you should be able to download the software
included in the program. Read the FAQ
http://www.microsoft.com/web/websitespark/Support.aspx pay attention to the
one title "how can my company access the program software?"
