web access sending e-mail problems

I am using web access for microsoft exchange from home with XP. I have never
had problems. Now I cannot send e-mails it gives me a error message and then
shuts down web access. I had a active x pop up and i am wondering if adding
the active x has caused this? Does any one have solution to this
