OK, here is the scoop. We seem to have gotten a pretty
serious virus last night. Our Norton system was able to
remove the virus however, the system does not come back up
now. We get a ton of errors upon reboot and the system
starts properly about once every ten to fifteen times.

The real question is this; we need to export or remove our
Exchange data from the server, reformat and reload,
replace hardware and rebuild the environment. How does a
master, god of Exchange suggest this happen?

?? What are the main files that we need to copy over to
another system or backup to restore?

?? What utilities are there for this job?

?? What is the chance of losing our Exchange mail forever?

?? How do we basically back up our mailboxes and rebiuild,
with the goal of restoring the mailboxes on the new system?

I need some help here as we dont know where to go...

Bit of a worry that Norton claimed to have caught it but
you're being caused grief still? Anyway, what's in the
logs that would be worth a mention?
If you do any rebuild or export you run the risk of the
infected files migrating with any data you move so it
might not acheive anything medium term.
Solve the first problem and then consider your options
later. Come back with anything you can from the logs and
what Norton may say about it...

Better option like you can extract mailboxes from corrupt Exchange Public folders to PST files. You should choose this mode to deal with dirty shutdown problems in Exchange. It can recover mailboxes like attachments, emails; contacts etc. and export the same to MS Outlook.Visit- http://www.filesrecoverytool.com/exchange-edb-recovery.html
