I have an odd problem

If i uncheck the anonimous authentication
on the access tab of the properties of the default smtp server
i cannot receive any mail from the internet.

it's a nightmare,
i don't want to open my server for relay but
i want to receive mail.

I always used this configuration without any problem
today i had to rebuild my server and since then i cannot
get it up working as it should

Any clue on what's wrong?

Simone

Problem solved.

Or at least now i got it working
without being afraid of having an open relay...
Still i wish i could set it up that clients should be
authenticated, even to send a mail to an internal recipient @mydomain

Exchange 2000 does not allow unauthorized relaying by default, so unless you
have altered your default settings then you need to do nothing.

Here is an article that explains how to make sure your Exchange 2000 server
is not an open relay:

Hope this helps
