SMTP Gateway & Exchange 2000

Hi,

I would like to know if there is any problems with having the following
system put in place:

Use a Linux box with a SMTP MTA (qmail??) configured as a SMTP gateway
inside a DMZ. On the internal LAN we would have a Exchange 2000 server for
all mail access by internal computers. This is so that all Internet mail
connections will be to the Linux box in the DMZ.

1. Would you loose any functionality of Exchange 2000 with this set-up?
2. Do you see any problems by doing this?

Has anybody already do this with Exchange 2000 with no problems?
