Changes to distributionlists cannot be saved

Ol 2007

A few users cannot update the membership of a distributionlist even though
they have the Managed by and
"manager can update membership list" checkbox marked.

If we change the managed by to another user it is fully possible to update
the membership.

Is there any way to log what happens during an update of the DL to get a
more precise reason why
the update cannot be performed.
