Receiving Internet mail from Pipex with Exchange S 5.5

Hi I am trying to set up an exchange server to send and receive email from
my internet provider (Pipex) using dial-up.
I am avoiding dns and just using IP address for their servers.
I can send without a problem but don't appear to be able to download my mail
form their POP3 server. Any suggestions or help welcome.

That would be a kludge. Some kludgey add-ons are available; some are listed
