In the hope that this might be of value to other's seeking mobile device
sync options, I'm posting some findings after working and experimenting
using the MS Exchange server option offered by Google...

...for free.

Google's current use of their MS Exchange capabilities includes mobile
syncing of google contacts, calendar, tasks and push GMail.

Once setup, the mobile sync process works transparently. During my
testing I only encountered two negatives;

Google's Exchange server does not currently sync categories even though
categories are an option within Google contacts. The indications are
that this is a "temporary" limit, but I have no concrete details.

Google's Exchange settings does not allow any images or other digital
files in the "notes" field. While this is understandable and
acceptable, this policy also extends to hyperlinks stored in the notes
field which is bad enough but the entire hyperlink is deleted without
warning... both the link and the visible text.

If you need ethernet/internet mobile syncing and not blessed with the
use of a MS Exchange server at work or home, this is a very painless
activesync option, especially compared to the history of activesync and
wmdc on a sync pc.

Additionally other mobile os platforms are supported including
iPhone/iTouch and Blackberry... more details and tips can be found at
