Dear All,

After some users using the iPhone to access the email, we notice the
Exchange Server 2007 generate this error:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchange ActiveSync
Event Category: Requests
Event ID: 1040
Date: 9/9/2008
Time: 3:44:18 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ASEFEXCH
Description:
The average of the most recent [182] heartbeat intervals used by clients is
less than or equal to [540].
Make sure that your firewall configuration is set to work correctly with
Exchange ActiveSync and Direct Push technology. Specifically, make sure that
your firewall is configured so that requests to Exchange ActiveSync do not
expire before they have the opportunity to be processed.

For more information about how to configure firewall settings when you use
Exchange ActiveSync, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 905013,
"Enterprise Firewall Configuration for Exchange ActiveSync Direct Push
Technology" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=3052&kbid=905013).

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

We have changed the HTTPS timeout value in the firewall from 30 Mins to 60
Mins.
But the error still appears.
Anyone knows how to solve this? Trying to figure out from KB 905013 not very
useful.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Seems there's no one has experience this issue.
Is there anyone from Microsoft can help?

I've seen this issue on and off over the years. I had a Sonic wall at one
point and no matter what you set the timeout at the errors were always
there. These days I see it once in a while. Some days lots, others never.

Anyways, is it actually causing an issue, or just the lame events that
irritate? For me it was always the later.

For me it is causing an issue with iPhones connection. Apparently it
has to do with the TCP connections max life on the sonic wall. If it
is set too low, it will kill the active sync session and cause issues
on iphones and other active sync devices... I to have a Sonic wall.
And these issues are becoming more and more frustrating to me. As my
iPhones here will connect at one point then wont be able to at others,
with no type of pattern, it will just react like it wants to at any
given time.

I wished someone had the answer, but I have been reading and reading
and researching for days with the same results.

Have you talked to Sonicwall?
Its been a while, but seems you could extend the connection timeout
values...
