Hello,

I am going into a meeting in two hours with the company president and
hopefully I’ll receive a response here before that time. Thanks in
advance! Wed, June 16, 2010 1 PM, EST.

Exchange 2003 \ SP2 – single server \ single 2003 domain forest

Our president is on a bender to not have corporate email on any
employee’s personal devices (phones, iPads, etc). He’s about to sign a
government contract that stipulates this. Many of our employees are
currently using personal iPhones to sync their corporate email. We are
about to enter into a contract with AT&T to purchase numerous iPhones
and give them to specific employees. My questions revolve around
disallowing employees not receiving phones from using their personal
devices for corp email. I am looking for clarification to what I
believe to be true here. Comments are very welcome and appreciated.

1) For these folks NOT receiving company issued iPhones - in
Exchange System Manager \ …User Mailbox…\ Configure Exchange Features
- should I turn off all three items under Mobile Services (Outlook
Mobile Access, User Initiated Synchronizations, Up-to-date
Notifications)? – and that’s it? Will doing so block each individual
from syncing their iPhone \ Droid \ whatever?

2) He may take this a step further and have me shut down OWA as
well. Would doing this in any way affect iPhone synchronization for
company issued iPhones? I am only asking this because in the Exchange
setup on the iPhone you have to give it the mail server name –
mail.Domain.com, which is also the URL for OWA.

Thanks for any responses!
