You might try adjusting the RPC binding order for your clients. On the
client sided, for example, if you are using TCP/IP, you can remove all
protocols and IPC mechanisms that you won't be using, such as SPX. This
can be done in the registry, and if you search on rpc_binding_order, you
will find it.

Thanks,

I have also found that it helps to edit HOSTS file for quicker name
resolution along with the rpc binding order.

I use a protable PC WIN95 connected via Nokia PCMCIA Modem 9.6 k to my
mobil Handy.
I have two ways to get into our network
With or without logon scripts (connect to all fileshares printerservices an
so on)
Usually I connect without logon scripts and it takes me about 30 seconds
(MS-Exchange Client, 1Min Outlook Client) otherwise more than 5 Min.

For normal Swiss Telecom people we use pst files (backup restore) I've a
mobil user setup his laptop im the same matter, with an pst file and ....
unfortunatly he useses the same pst located on a servers fileshare and I've
he/she gets a Message / Winword attachment (MBs) ... every single bit runs
twice over the modem link.....
