On a test server, I have been unable to delete an item from a deleted items
folder. It says "The item cannot be deleted because it already has or their
is an access violation".

No one else has access to the folder and yet when I click delete the item
remains. I have ISINTEG'ed the Information Store on the Exchange Server and
EDBUTIL both private and public stores and still no luck removing it. It is
an Exchange 5.0 box and I thinking I might just upgrade to 5.5 and see if
the database conversion reassigns the GUID and allows me access over the
item in the folder.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

The items you cannot delete--were they by chance infected with a virus?
(perhaps Melissa) I've been seeing all kinds of strange reactions due
to how the various anti-virus software handles cleaning and removing the
infected messages. For instance, Dr. Solomon locks up the message quite
securely and won't let you delete it unless you turn Dr. S off
temporarily so it doesn't keep "protecting" you from the virus, even
though you are only trying to delete it.

That's the only thing I can think of, but also note that I know very
little about Exchange administration. Hopefully one of the Exchange
experts can offer other solutions/possibilities.
