When logged into the local LAN and using the Outlook Web client, the logon
id/password step seems to be skipped. Is this because I am already logged
into the LAN and the browser passes the MS security, so it doesn't bother
asking? Now I'm assuming that the reason I don't get the userid/password
step is that I'm logged into the LAN. Am I right in this assumption?

What happens if I want to view another mailbox from the browser while
logged into the LAN. With the Outlook client, I could set up another
profile and it would work. How can I do it witht he Web client?

Under Exchange, your network login serves to authenticate you for e-mail,
too; so the Exchange client doesn't bother to ask you again for your
password when you start it up. In other words, your assumption that the
LAN login also serves for Exchange is entirely correct.

If I took off NT Challenge Response for the HTTP daemon, that would
probably fix the problem ... right?

You can configure rights to multiple mail boxes on the exchange server by
using your NT account on all mail boxes you wish to open.
