We have a mail server that is having trouble with some e-mails being stuck
in the queue so until I resolve the issue with sending internet bound emails
from these server I will need to setup another mail relay server to deliver
all internet mail to a smart host (IIS). We changed ISP so there are
probably DNS related issues and reverse PTR records. Does this make any
sense or a good solution? Thank you for the help in advance.
Hi - when you post in here you should always include full details such
as your version & SP levels of everyting relevant. Answers often vary
by version.
If you're having problems sending mail directly from exchange to your
recipients' mail servers, then yes, a smarthost is one option. It
would be easier to answer your question if you explained exactly what
your'e having problems with, though.
Not sure what DNS issues you would be running into, but you should
have your new ISP create a PTR for the public IP in question. I'm
assuming you aren't having any problems receiving mail, so DNS for
your domain is unlikely to be related here.
