guys, I'm getting this error when sending to some domains.

For the most part, all outbound emails reach their destinations. But few
ones come back with these errors

We are using DNS, no smart host.

any help?

Hi,

Do you have a PTR record configured in the external DSN??

Well, that is a good question. Let me explain a bit more.

My email server is an Exchange 2003 Ent. edition SP2 box.

My domain is mydomain.com and there is an MX Record for it called
mail.mydomain.com. The A record for this is 22.22.22.15

There is a PTR record, which we requested our ISP to create for us since
they own our IP block. They indeed created one long time ago and pointed to
mail01.mydomain.com. So a PTR lookup for 22.22.22.15 will come back with a
response of mail01.mydomain.com

So, as far as we were concern all this should be enough

What do you think?

Ideally the server's broadcast name should agree with what's in the PTR
record. You might want to try changing the server's FQDN under the
properties for your Default SMTP Virtual Server so it's the same as what's
in the PTR. I'm not sure it'll help, but it might, and it's unlikely it'll
hurt anything. -Peter
