I have setup two Exchange 5.0 servers with the RAS Connector to transfer
mail and directory info.

When setting it up mail and directory info went through fine and all was
working fine.

I then shipped the one server to the one site and the other to the other
site.

Mail is still flowing between the sites but directory replication does not
work anymore. The modems dial and make a proper connection but no
directories are updated, there is a little traffic in the beginning of the
connection but then all stops and the modems time out after awhile.

Need some direction as where to look next.

Thanks.

Garth Truter.

Garth,

There is a lot of things that can go wrong, and you may need to do a little
snooping with the Diagnostics Logging turned on for the Directory
Replication Connector, and perhaps some other objects.

Here's a shot in the dark. Check the RAS connection to be sure the TCP/IP
or NWLink IPX protocol is being established between the Sites. Directory
Replication will not work properly over NetBEUI.

... also, if the servers originally communicated over ther LAN then this
can cause problems when you move to dial-up. Check this out in the KBase.
