I have to reset the permissions on the /Exchweb/Bin directory and re-
add anonymous. It keeps losing it after restarting the server, and I
can't find where in AD or
Exchange it's coming from.
I've tried setting it at the /Exchweb level, doesn't make any
difference.
So if you restart the server, or the System Attendant & IIS, boom!
Anonymous is gone.
We are using a domain account for our anonymous account. Not sure if
it's relevant, but we also use Tumbleweed.
I have the KB920209 patch installed, and of course Exchange 2003 is
completely patched and up to date; native domain & forest.
I've followed the KB883380 directions, no good. I'm completely at a
loss. Authenticated users have the appropriate rights, as far as I can
tell.
How can I make the permissions on the /Exchweb/Bin directory stick?
The default web site is set at Anonymous, and of course per KCD the /
exchange, Exadmin, and Public directories are set to Integrated.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Where are you setting it? In IIS Manager or Exchange System Manager? ISTR
that you have to do it in ESM, because the setting there periodically
overwrites what is in IIS. Have a look under Servers/x/Protocols/HTTP and
if you see the exchweb VDir there, look at its properties, and see if you
can configure the auth settings.

Thanks, but you can't set it there. Exchweb doesn't show up under the
HTTP virtual in Exchange System manager. Wish it did, however!

Are you able to add one in ESM? I don't have E2003 any more, but I'm sure
that I remember seeing it in ESM. It's possible that a new exchweb VDir was
added in IIS Manager (instead of ESM) and that ESM is still trying to
control it. Right-click the HTTP Virtual Server, and see if one of the
'New' options is the exchweb VDir. If it is, and you can add it there,
you'll need to delete the one in IIS first. And maybe do the KB883380 stuff
if it doesn't appear in IIS within say 15 minutes.
