Ive had a request to investigate how to add LAN printer queues to the
Exchange address List so that people can send emails to printers. Does
anyone know if this can be done, or where to start?

Exch 5.5 sp4

Thanks

I've got normal mailboxes setup in Exchange for each of our printers.
We have mainly Brother HL1250 & HL1270N printers. The 1270's have inbuilt
e-mail printing, and can connect to any pop3 account specified.
The 1250's, as they don't have built in networking, used the Automated
E-Mail Printer software provided by Brother on the server. It collects the
mail every 10 mins and prints it to the correct printer

What ever happened to sharing the printer and using File -> Print?

Gee, I'd never thought of that.
Our users want to be able to send out notices to groups of users via their
shared network printers. I know the obvious way to do this is to send to
their mailboxes and have them print it, but this is how they do things now
using the old mainframe MEMO system. They send emails from Outlook to a DL
containing custom recipients that are MEMO printer id's. Its not my job to
re-educate people in the way they do things. I'm just the guy that has been
requested to see if this same functionality can be produced using Exchange &
Outlook.

You can set a client rule in outlook to print incoming messages. This means
you need a machine to run outlook on the given mailbox. Which means someone
else can't be using it for their mail. You'll need one machine for each
printer.
