I just recently went from 4 DC to 1 DC by demoting un-wanted DC's. I decided
that I had to many for an environment of four/4 servers.

In doing so I'm now having problems with my Exchange server. The
MSExchangeSA and MSExchangeDSAccess services display errors in the event log
and Exchange no longer works properly. I haven't changed the domain name at
all just decreased the number of DC's in the environment.

The errors that I'm getting are as follows:
MSExchangeAS:

Unexpected error The server is not operational. Facility: Win32 ID no:
8007203a Microsoft Exchange System Attendant occurred.

MSExchangeDSAccess:

Process INETINFO.EXE (PID=2040). All the DS Servers in domain are not
responding.

How to I resolve the above errors? I made sure that the remaining DC has
the "Global Catalog" setting turned on via "NTDS Setting".

What other options do I have?

Should I just backup the Mailboxes if I can and re-install Exchange? I
really don't want to do that. There's got to be a way to fix this.

Any help you guys can give me at this point will help. I've been working on
this problem all day with out any resolution. It's now 10:15 pm. I started
working on this problem at 7:00 this morning. I think I've had this probelm
for about a week now, but I'm just realizing how bad things are related to
Exchange.

Thanks

Thanks

if yuo open up exchange manager, navigate to the server under Admin Groups,
go to properties and Directory Access, are they automatic or manual?

Is the GC Listed correctly in DNS?

Thanks for the reply. I followed up and checked the directory access. Both
the GC and DC are set to auto. I not sure about your question related to the
GC being listed in the DNS. The DC machine is listed with the correct ip
address. However, I do not see a specific listing for the GC in the DNS. I
only have one DC which is also used as the GC.

Can you give me more information about the GC entry that you mention related
to the DNS?

Thanks

Thanks, I got things working. My problem was that the DNS on the Exchange
machine was not configured. Once I resovled that the Exchange server started
working. Thanks for you all you help.

Larry, i am having the exact same issue. I am a bit confused here, I have my
2 internal DNS servers specified on my mail servers IP stack (like it has
been for 18 months). are you referring to something else less obvious?

Do you have your domain name listed under "DNS suffix for this connection"?

Process STORE.EXE (PID=4664). All the DS Servers in domain are not
responding.
