I have following setup: 1 Dc, 1 Exchnage 2003 on member server. All exchange
files are on C drive and I have only 3 GB of space left. I created another
folder structure on another logical drive and with all the permissions as per
MS article. When I tried to move database files using system manager it would
dismount the store first but then it would give me an error message when
trying to copy database files to the new destination. The error message is
this: The RPC Server is unavailable. Facility win 32. c00706ba. I would have
to cancel out of it and mount back the store. Disk space on C: should not be
the issue. All services are running fine and mail flows fine. I tried to
dismount the database first the move it via system manager but would get the
same error. I found an MS article on how to move datbase files manually in
Exchange 2000 by stopping IS, copying database files to the new place and
editing the new path via ADSI tool then mounting back the store. Will it work
for Exchange 2003?

Thanks for any help

Yes. Manually moving the database files applies to both versions of
Exchange. You may want to think about moving both the databases AND log
files, although I would not put them on the same physical disk array.

When you tried to move the DB's using ESM, did it register any errors in the
Event logs?

Thanx a lot for your feedback. I was able to move database edb and stm files
using ESM. It worked.
