My pub.edb is around 6MB, and priv.edb around 1.3G..how
long should eseutil /r /ispub & /ispriv take? I've been
waiting for over two hours.

It depends on your hardware and the level of corruption and repair. What
version of exchange are you using. I remember reading the eseutil
performance has improved with each new exchange versions.

Dual PIII/600, 1GB RAM, IDE drives. ESEUTIL is eating up
about 50% of CPU time, all I see on-screen is the
initial "performing soft recovery....". I ran it
seperately for pub.edb (eseutil /r ..\mdbdata\pub.edb).
The edb file is only 6mb...

eseutil /r replays log files into the databases to make them consistant or
"Clean shutdown). The range of time that it can take to play a log file will
depend somewhat on hardware and specific situations, but it averages to be
about 2-5 minutes per log file.

But why are you running the /r switch with eseutil.

Per KB272570...eseutil /mh indicated the files were
inconsistent. I'm assuming the soft recovery isn't
working, as I am still waiting.

My ntbackup, for some reason, isn't backing up the
information store...I check the store under "Microsoft
Exchange"...save the .bks file. Get out of NT b/u, go
back in and load the bks, and the store isn't checked
anymore.

So my choices are limited at the moment...I need to try
everything possible to get this store running.

So, what is the problem other than long soft recovery?
Can you start InfoStore? Can you perform online backup?
