Hi All,

This will probably be a stupid question but,in exchange
2000 do i need a postmaster address?,I thought of just
using the administrator email address to do the trick,so
do i just make a user account named postmaster and do it
tha way? any help would be great!,found alot of helpful
hints in this group and would like to say thank you!

I believe the account used to install exchange 2K is automatically assigned
postmaster@<domain>

Go into the properties of the account you used to install, and look over the
assigned smtp email addresses.

Unlike other mail systems, Exchange does not by default have a postmasters
account. The real reason for this account is for direction of administrative
queries or NDRs. Exchange does this automatically so you don't have to
establish an account.

If you send and receive mail from the internet then you should have a
postmaster address (and probably an "abuse" address, too). The RFC's
state that a postmaster address must be present for a domain.

Anyone with administrator rights (especially Domain Admins and
Enterprise Admins) shouldn't be using that account to read mail. Doing
so can pose a high risk of causing extensive damage if you open a
message with a destructive (or deceptive) payload.
