I have moved to Exchange 2007 recently from exchange 2003. There
are no mailboxes left out in Exchange 2003. I want to perform the set
emailaddresspolicy cmdlet, but worried about the effects.
There are a bunch of users whose primary SMTP addresses are not with
the default email address policy. And we still have "Automatically
update email address based on email policy" checked for all mailboxes,
Distribution lists and contacts.
My questions are:
1)If i Set-EMailAddressPolicy “Default Policy” -IncludedRecipients
“AllRecipients” , does it stamp a new email address and move down the
existing primary email addresses if they are different.
Does is also change the email addresses of distribution lists and
contacts based on the policy ?
2) What is the best approach to upgrade the email address policy
without affecting any existing mailboxes,Distribution list and
contacts.
Regards,
Rama
This can change the reply back e-mail adress of those users.
you have either uncheck the automaticaly update box or else create custom
email address policies for them.
It is quiet surprise why is it not changed if the automaticlay update is
checked. But make sure to make the above changes and the changes to the email
address policies.
Please update me on Ashwi...@msn.com

Thanks Ashwin.
1) Do you know if there is a script or tool to uncheck "automaticaly
update email address based on email policy" for all recipients before
i do the upgrade of Default policy.
2) Does upgrading the default policy affect contacts and Distro lists
if they have the "automatically update email address based on email
policy: checked. Does it mean that if i have a contact with external
SMTP address, i will have it updated with my email policy and that
contact will have an email address with my policy as primary SMTP.
Thanks.
The Badmail folder contains messages that cannot be delivered into your
organisation, and also cannot be returned back to the sender.
Therefore, files within the folder can usually just be deleted.
Now there is 2 solution.
1) Reduce spams using an Anti spam
2) Delete the contents in it periodically.
Now you already know 1st point and lets come to 2nd point
2) Delete the contents in it.
Can we automate this process?
yes we can.
follow the kbe article given below.
