Blocking Attachment Types

I never cared about this until now, but is there an area in exchange where I
can block file attachments such as *.mp3 *.wmv etc.

Not in Exchange. You can do this in the Outlook client (post a
question in those groups to get the right location).
In Exchange you would need the spam filter that you purchased to sit
on top of or in front of Exchange to do this.
