We have an Windows 2000 Server / Exchange 2000
environment. We added a Windows 2003 server and set it up
as a domain controller. We then installed Exchange 2003
Standard on the Windows 2003 server and added it to the
existing Exchange organization. We then performed move
mailbox tasks to move all of the e-mail to the Exchange
2003 server.
So all of those accounts work fine. Now here is the
interesting part. Whenever we add a new account to the
Exchange 2003 server using the Active Directory on the
Windows 2003 server, the exchange task completes
successfully, but no mailbox is created on the server.
Additionally, the e-mail addresses tab does not populate
in AD (we let it sit 6 hours and it still did not
populate). We also cannot logon to the mailbox, as we
get "could not connect to information store".
However, to workaround this, we are able to create the
account on the windows 2000 server on its local exchange
2000 database, and then perform a move mailbox to get it
on the 2003 server. It then receives mail just fine. We
just cannot get it to create a mailbox on the 2003
server.
I would appreciate any feedback that anyone might have.
