Came back from vacation and did a backup....stopped MTA services first. Got
done and could not get services to start. While the backup was going I had
gone through all my stale accounts and disabled all that were old.
Inadvertently I disable exchsvcs and exchcontr. When I discovered the slip,
I re-enabled the accounts and tried to start MTA services....no joy. I
rebooted and still no joy. Thinking a restore might help, I completed a
restore...no joy and now when I run Exchange Admin I am unable to find the
exchange server....any ideas? I have been down for three days and the boss
is starting to sweat the lack of email.

What errors are you seeing in the system eventlog?

Was seeing several that said MTA and other services could not start. Found
that the BDC and the PDC were not communicating and replicating. Solved
that issue and set the password tot he correct one in the services.....up and
running. Appreciate the post and a kick start in the right direction.
