Outlook opens slow on Windows 95 clients only when connecting to Exchange
5.5. I tried adding the server to the DNS suffix with no success. People
have told me to try putting the server in LmHosts, but Microsoft makes
LmHosts to look harder than I think it really is. Am I correct in saying
all I need is ?192.168.0.1 server"? Is their any need for exactly 16
spaces, etc? Is this my problem, or am I just spinning my wheels with
LmHosts? Thanks, Gary Coslop

LMHOSTS is easy. But you should figure out your real name resolution issue.
Slow Outlook startup is almost always a problem with DNS name resolution.
You can also check the RPC binding order.

You're spinning your wheels with using Windows95.

WTF?

Oh, and LMHOSTS is as simple as you described. You don't need 16 spaces.
You only need 1 (most people use TAB though).

If you provide the NetBIOS name *type* in the LMHOSTS file then the
name must be /exactly/ 16 character in length. If you only provide the
NetBIOS name then the entry only needs to be as long as the simple
name.

Cool didn't know that. Always used the NetBIOS name.

Have a look at LMHOSTS.SAM.
