Up until now we sent and recieved our email by using a dial up connection to
our ISP (Ision Internet) and our exchange server would forward mail to their
smarthost and would connect every hour to collect incoming mail via SMTP
from their mail server.
We have recently had an 'always on' ADSL connection installed at the office,
so obviously it makes little sense to continue to use a dial up connection
to collect mail, therefore I propose to do the following:
1. Move our existing website and Domain name to a dedicated 'host' (i.e.
someone not offering dial up connections - I wont need one)
2. Get the new host to change the MX record on our Domain to point to the
public IP address of our Exchange server
3. Set up our exchange server to send mail using DNS instead of forwarding
to a smarthost.
Will all the above work?
Any input very much appreciated.
